frequently asked questions
IS DANDY SMOKE A WHISKY SUBSTITUTE?
Dandy was created as a base for drinks and cocktails that have the flavours and mouthfeel of robust & smoky dark spirits, whiskey included. So, whilst you can make a Dandy & Coke and it feels like a rum or whiskey & Coke with a smoky kick to it, it doesn’t taste exactly like whiskey when drank straight
WHAT IS LAPSANG SOUCHONG TEA?
Lapsang Souchong is the hero ingredient of Dandy Smoke that gives it all the rich smoky goodness. It is a black tea that is smoke-dried over a pinewood fire. It originates in the Wuyi Mountains region of Fujian, China. The fermented leaves are put on hot iron pans or plates and roasted for a short time to ‘seal’ the leaves. The tea is then smoked over sustainable exotic woods that are rich in resin. The result is a spicy, smoky flavour.
SHOULD I DRINK CROSSIP 'NEAT'?
It certainly won’t do you any harm if you do BUT Crossip was designed to create tasty drinks. Therefore, it is quite full of flavour and bold. We would always recommend using it with a mixer or in a cocktail.
DO YOU USE ANY ALCOHOL IN PRODUCTION?
In short, no. Due to our unique process we have no need to utilise alcohol as a solvent to extract flavour. We can definitively say that at no point in the process does alcohol ever come into contact with Crossip.
